Athletes and performers work with me to hone and develop mental skills such as increasing confidence, purposeful goal setting, effective self-talk, establishing pre-performance routines, and overcoming performance anxiety.
I offer workshops, season-long programs, and leadership training for sports teams and professional organizations, focusing on building confidence, self-awareness, and effective self-talk while strengthening team cohesion and driving peak performance.
Coaches can benefit from having their own coach, too! I work with coaches to help them create positive, motivational, and caring climates, which have been scientifically proven to help teams be more successful.
Parents are an important part of the support team for athletes. I offer sessions with parents to help them parent their athletes, especially those athletes who may be struggling.
Please contact me at coachswatek@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I work with clients of all ages who are committed to the process of learning mental skills and then learning how to apply them. The clients who see the biggest impact are the clients who fully commit to the process.
In addition to my background in psychology, my experience as an educator sets me apart from other consultants. I believe that setting a foundation by learning about mental skills is paramount. We spend a few sessions learning mental skills which creates the opportunity to apply those skills at a deeper level. I believe that true change comes not just from setting goals, but from understanding the WHY about our behavior and how to make impactful changes. I also bring a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to every coaching session, plus we will have FUN!
While both sport psychology consultants and therapists help individuals improve their lives, therapists typically focus on addressing mental health issues, while sport psychology consultants focus on helping individuals set and achieve their goals and reach peak performance.
When an athlete commits to improve their mental game by working with me, the minimum commitment is for 5 sessions. Those first 5 sessions set the groundwork for learning and applying mental skills. The timing of your sessions will be discussed in your Introductory Session.
Topics for Sessions 1-5: How our thoughts affect our performance, Handling Mistakes, Effective Self-Talk, Building Confidence, and Energy Management
Topics for Sessions 6 and beyond will be determined by assessing the needs of the client and the progress that has been made during the first 5 sessions.
Regular sessions last 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions can vary depending on the needs of the client, but new clients should plan to meet weekly for the first 5 sessions.
The first step is to schedule a free 30 minute introductory session that will be held via Zoom. In that session, we will get an idea of how we can work together and what our next steps should be from there. If the client is a minor, a parent or guardian must attend the Introductory Zoom session with the athlete.
